October, 2020 | “A heart after god is humble.”

BIBLE PASSAGES: 1 Samuel 16:1-13

Materials Needed: Bible materials)

During this series, we’re going to have so much fun finding out how to be kids after God’s heart. That means that we are taking a look at our own hearts and making sure they are following God and everything He says to do.

One thing God says is good for our hearts to do is to be humble. Being humble means that you see people for who they are on the inside and treat them as more important than yourself. When our hearts are humble, they are following after God! That’s what we need to know today!

As a family, read 1 Samuel 16:7 from a Bible or Bible app.

Let’s play “Would You Rather?”. We will take turns asking each other ‘would you rather’ questions.

-Would you rather have a pet rabbit OR a pet gerbil?

-Would you rather have a pet llama OR a pet anteater?

-Would you rather bathe a skunk OR a snake?

Discuss As A Family:

-If you’re on a team and you score the winning goal, what are some things you can do to make sure the whole team is celebrated instead of only thinking of yourself?

-Who is one person you could treat as more important than yourself this week? How could you do that?

-What makes being humble difficult to do sometimes?

PRAY: As a family, share things that you would like to pray about. Ask that God helps you all have humble hearts and see others for who they are on the inside. Pray for God to help you treat others as more important than yourselves. Pray that God will help your heart follow after Him.

October 4, 2020 | “Goodness is Doing What is Right.”

BIBLE PASSAGES: 1 Samuel 24:1-20

Materials Needed: Bible

DO: SAY: In this series, we are learning all about the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit includes all the good things that the Holy Spirit produces in our lives when we follow Jesus–things like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Today, we’re talking about goodness!

As a family, read 1 Samuel 24:1-20 from a Bible or Bible app.

PLAY: We’re going to play the Alphabet Game with things you find on a farm! We’ll take turns saying the name of something you would find on a farm for each letter of the alphabet. As we go, we’ll talk through some discussion questions together.

Discuss Questions:

-What are some examples of situations when it is difficult to do the right thing?

-Why should we want to do the right thing

-When God grows goodness in our hearts, how does it help others see who Jesus is?

PRAY: As a family, share things that you would like to pray about. Ask that God would give you the strength to do what is right even when it is hard. Pray that the Holy Spirit would grow goodness in your hearts.

Renovate Kids Ministry

We value each child and family who comes to Renovate Church. Renovate Kids Ministry is a special ministry designed for children 6 months to 4th grade. We believe each child is created to have a relationship with God and has unique talents, abilities and callings, which need to be cultivated. Our passion is to see each child growing in their relationship with God and His purpose for their lives. We are also passionate about Kid’s Ministry being offered in a fun, friendly and safe environment, so children can experience the love of Jesus on their level.

6 months to Pre-K

Through playtime, music, and teaching, we partner with parents to introduce babies and toddlers to God, and his son, Jesus. Babies are given special attention as volunteers care for infants and play with older babies who are on the move. Toddlers play and explore as we provide lots of opportunities for them to move and stay active. Through fun and interactive Bible lessons and music, kids are appropriately introduced to God and the world he created.

Elementary (Kindergarten to 4th grade)

Through interactive activity, teaching, small groups, and music, we partner with parents to build a strong biblical foundation for kids. During each service, kids learn about Jesus and the Bible and have time to reflect and pray. Age specific lessons are designed to capture kid’s attention and imagination.

Ministry contact

For more information, please contact April Jamerson, Children’s Ministry Director, here.

We’re so excited that you and your child are talking about baptism together. When it comes to baptism at Renovate Church, we have a few short steps for you and your family. We hope this will help kids and parents understand what baptism really means as they make this important decision in following Jesus.

First, pick up a copy of our baptism info booklet, All In for Jesus, A Guide for Children to Understand Their Faith. Please read and work through the book together as a family, and make sure to write the Letter to Jesus that is mentioned in the back of the booklet. Next, you and your child should meet with one of our elementary staff. During this meeting, we’ll talk about the decision to follow Jesus, what baptism means, why we do it, and what baptism changes about our relationship with God. If you would like to schedule a meeting or have any questions, please feel free to contact April Jamerson here.
