Nelo and Wanda Velez

Nelo and Wanda Velez are two of the newest additions to the Renovate team and hail from Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. They are serving in various roles within the Renovate community as church planting residents and have a vision to plant a new church in the Austin area in the next several years. They are both effective, experienced, and dynamic leaders with extensive ministry experience. Nelo’s parents were church planters in Puerto Rico and Nelo and Wanda were involved in the original church plant in the city of Ponce and in the subsequent church plant, Iglesia Cristiana de la Familia, in the city of Adjuntas. Nelo has 23 years of ministry experience (16 years in full-time ministry) and has ministered around the world through his music, worship leading, and preaching. They have served in numerous roles within church leadership including the worship team, the preaching team, discipleship ministry, counseling ministry, marriage and family ministry, and youth ministry. Nelo has a degree in psychology, and a minor in music, and received his masters in theology from Grand Canyon University. Wanda has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the Interamerican University and a masters degree in pastoral counseling from Liberty University. Nelo and Wanda have been married for 15 years and have two daughters (Amy and Alyson). Nelo loves everything coffee and Wanda loves to read books and make her own jewelry. They also love how Austin combines the experience of city life with incredible natural beauty. The thing the Nelo enjoys most about Renovate is the welcoming spirit of the staff and congregation as well as the commitment to balanced ministry between the love for scripture and the openness to the presence of the Lord. What Wanda enjoys most about Renovate is that it truly feels like a family.
