In the book of Nehemiah, we find that God's people and city are in brokenness, conflict, and hardship and it appears that God's work in their lives is going to go UNFINISHED. Nehemiah, serving in the royal court as a cupbearer to king Artaxerxes in the Persian city of Susa, hears this painful report and gets stirred to action. Sensing God's desire to use him for change, Nehemiah leaves his place of security and comfort to rally God's people toward a bigger and better vision of the future. Along the way he and the exiles face rejection, opposition, ridicule, threats, weariness, and setbacks, yet persevere through every obstacle to see God do a miraculous work in their midst. Here is what we can learn from the book of Nehemiah:
No circumstance is too difficult for the Lord to work.
Our lives don't have to stay stagnant and in despair.
God can use anyone who seeks Him to bring redemptive change in the world.
He is the great restorer and rebuilder.
How we make progress through faith, prayer, teamwork, and sacrifice.
